Water Lift, Airflow, and Amps: Finding the Right Balance

An upholstery extractor should make the job easier—from plugging it in to the final cleaning pass.

A vacuum with enough suction to “pull blood out of a turnip” sounds impressive. And when you’re comparing equipment, it’s natural to notice the machine with the biggest water-lift number.

But professional cleaning involves more than one number.

For upholstery, vehicle interiors, stairs, and small-area extraction, we believe the better question is: How well does the entire machine fit the work you actually do?

Three numbers that need to work together

Water lift

Suction pressure: how strongly the vacuum can pull against resistance.

Airflow

Moving air: helps carry recovered moisture through the tool and hose.

Amp draw

Electrical demand: how much capacity the machine requires from its circuit.

These specifications describe different things. A higher water-lift rating alone doesn’t tell you how quickly a machine will clean a seat or how much moisture it will leave behind.

The tool, hose, fabric, cleaning solution, and operator’s technique all contribute to the result.

The specification you notice before cleaning starts

You arrive at a job, unload the extractor, connect the hoses, and find an outlet.

Then the breaker trips.

Now you’re figuring out what else shares that circuit, looking for another suitable power source, or asking the customer where the electrical panel is.

Those interruptions may never appear on a product comparison chart. But they matter when you’re trying to finish a job and move on to the next one.

A machine drawing close to a circuit’s capacity leaves little room for other equipment or existing loads. Lower electrical demand gives the operator more flexibility.

Less time troubleshooting power. More time cleaning.

Two capacities. The same balanced approach.

The Hyper 5 and Hyper 10 Auto Detailer share the same core cleaning components and performance specifications. The choice comes down to the capacity that fits your work.

108.2 inches of sealed water lift · 120 PSI pump Dual in-line heaters, 800 watts total · 14-amp rated draw

Vacuum motor airflow: 90.1 CFM at a 2-inch test orifice. The 108.2-inch sealed water-lift rating and airflow rating are measured under separate motor test conditions at 120V, not simultaneously. Working airflow and suction depend on the complete machine, hose, tool, and surface being cleaned.

The same core cleaning performance, with more solution capacity to work longer between refills.

For perspective, 108.2 inches of sealed water lift is equivalent to the pressure needed to support an approximately nine-foot column of water under sealed test conditions. That is a way to express suction pressure—not a promise of nine-foot working extraction height.

We chose this combination deliberately: useful extraction performance for upholstery and detailing work, paired with manageable electrical demand.

Our goal wasn’t simply to put the biggest possible vacuum motor inside a compact extractor. It was to build machines that make sense from setup through cleanup.

Choose for the workday ahead

Lower amp draw doesn’t guarantee that a breaker will never trip. Shared equipment, circuit conditions, and the available power supply still matter.

But electrical demand deserves a place alongside suction, heat, and tank capacity when choosing an extractor.

Before buying, look beyond the biggest number. Consider the complete machine, the tools you use, and the jobs you do every day.

The right balance should make your workday easier. That’s the thinking behind the Hyper 5 and Hyper 10 Auto Detailer.
